All ready for the Layer Cake Quilt-a-Long

Here are my fabrics ready for block 1. I am using Moda fabric: Nature's Chorus and Marble in black and red. To join the fun just click on the button to the right.

Christmas from UPS

I received these beautiful kits from Connecting Threads. I can not wait to take a rotor cutter to them.  Sorry about the sun reflection on the photo.
I bought these fat quarters from a local quilt shop. These are going to make a beautiful quilt. The collection is Eden by Moda.

I also had to have a couple of yards of the Weekend collection from Free Spirit. What a beautiful collection.

Blogger Quilt Festival Entry

This is my entry to the Blogger Quilt Festival.
When I finished a quilt, I usually tied them or I hand quilted them. A few years ago, I made this quilt for my grand child to be. I did machine quilting for the first time. I was not very good at it. In fact I was really bad ! I did not give this to my grand daughter because the machine quilting was so awful.

I started reading machine sewing quilt books and watching tutorials to help me. I practiced and practiced. I am getting better at machine quilting.

But definitely need more practice. My grand daughter was born in April 2009. I have made her a Halloween costume and dresses. I am working on a Christmas quilt for her. I also would love a long arm machine, for now I will practice with my regular machine.

Old dog "Gunner"

Look what I found!!!!!

Ha-ha

Yipee
Gunner playing like a puppy on this beautiful Sunday. He always manages to find a branch, not a stick, to play with. He also, tried to get on the deck with this 5 foot branch with no success.

The chickens were out having a good time. Everyone was enjoying the beautiful day of 70 degrees.

                                        BUT,

The hills are telling us that winter is coming,
the leaves are falling off the trees.
Hope your Sunday was a s beautiful.

FINISHED QUILT

Well, almost finished quilt and I am trying too figure what border I would like, The fabric I bought, I do not like once the quilt top was done.  So I laid it on the quilting frame to get a better look at it. I had to take the clothes out of the dryer. When I came back, I  could not find the kitten anywhere in the house. I looked up and down the stairs, from room to room.  I did not want any accidents.  Well the new kitty thinks that my quilting loom is her new bed.  I have news for her. She is cute but not that cute to lay on the quilt loom. OK, back to quilting I also have 6 charm pack of Moda 12 day of Christmas that I want to make into a quilt. I do not know what pattern yet. I do know that I really like the fabric.

Kitten

Found this cute kitten in our barn. She is about 2 months. She was cold and hungry. My dogs  (2 labs) do not seem to care if she is around. She is not even afraid of the chickens. I have no idea where she could have come from unless she was dropped. Our neighbors are a half mile to a mile away, depending on the direction you are going. Sometimes when the economy gets tough ,people do things like dropping animals at farms in hopes that they will be taken care of. Our cat "Inky" died 2 years ago, so we did not have a cat. She is a lucky cat. Right now she is asleep on the sofa.
